Health Matters – An A to Z Guide to Good Health – Z is for Zucchini

Z is for Zucchini

Z is for Zucchini which we usually refer to as courgette, but Z also brings us to the last letter in this series of “An A to Z Guide to Good Health”, I do hope you have enjoyed these “Alphabet articles” and that they have helped you understand that many everyday foods are very good for our health.

This year I grew some zucchini in the garden and very delicious they were too.   Zucchini are a member of the squash family, they are a type of small young marrow, which have tender edible skins and this is where most of the nutrients are found. The flowers are also delicious stuffed.  These are the health benefits of Zucchini:

🌱 Zucchini are a good source of beta carotene which the body converts to Vitamin A

🌱 They also contain Vitamin C, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron

🌱 Zucchini are a good source of folate (Folic Acid)

Zucchini is a low-calorie food, a 100g portion of lightly steamed zucchini contains only 19 calories but provides the body with a quarter of the vitamin C and a sixth of the folic acid an adult needs each day.

Finally, I want to say how much I have enjoyed writing these A – Z posts, and thank you to all my readers and followers; I hope the information has helped improve your health and fitness! 🏃‍♂️

Live with joy and health. 💚
