The Importance of Keeping Hydrated
It is so important to keep hydrated!
Two-thirds of the body is water. Water is essential to life and is associated with every function of the body. It is necessary for all digestive, absorptive, circulatory, and excretory processes and helps maintain the correct body temperature. Many of us are dehydrated; one reason alone is that coffee is a diuretic.
Drink more filtered water and see the improvement in your health. Your urine should not smell strong and should be the colour of straw. I recommend six to eight glasses daily, but everyone has their unique requirement. The following will help you decide, that drinking more water is a simple change you can make to improve your health.
💧 Seventy-five percent of the Western world is chronically dehydrated.
💧 In most people we know, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
💧 Even mild dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%.
💧 One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
💧 Lack of water is the number 1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
💧 Research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
💧 A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic mathematics and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Keeping your body hydrated improves concentration.
💧 Drinking five glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79% and reduce the risk of developing bladder cancer.
