Why Drink Lemon Juice?

Why have lemon juice? 🍋

Please see below the many reasons why I am asking you to have the juice of one small lemon in warm water every day:

1.     Lemons are packed with Vitamin C and trace minerals

2.     Lemon juice will help alkalise the body

3.     Lemon juice aids digestion

4.     Lemon juice is cleansing to the body

5.     Lemon juice supports liver function.

I promised this Challenge would not be too onerous! Remember, not to pour boiling water onto the lemon juice because this will kill off the Vitamin C content. Vitamin C boosts your immune system and is good for your liver. Lemons have strong antibacterial properties.

If you find the lemon juice alone is too sour just add a little honey. Do not clean your teeth straight after this as lemon juice may soften the enamel of your teeth. I tend to clean my teeth as soon as I get out of bed.

Lemon juice helps alkalise the body, sounds strange but it is true. When our bodies are too acidic it creates inflammation in the body. Inflammation is not all bad. You will have noticed when you cut or injure yourself that the area swells and becomes red, it is the body’s healing mechanism and creates inflammation. Tiny macrophages are busy doing their work, healing the wound. But too much inflammation is bad and can be responsible for many illnesses, so keeping the body alkaline helps protect us from disease.

Also, during the night, the body is busy cleaning and repairing so there is debris, and the lemon juice will help flush this from the body. The citric acid will also support your digestive and your liver function so lots of good reasons to have that warm lemon juice as the first drink of the day. 🍋
