Y is for Yellow Peppers

Today, we are looking at Yellow Peppers, often called sweet or bell peppers which are readily available throughout the year. Bell peppers (scientific name, Capsicum Annuum) are native to Central and South America. They can be eaten raw in salads or cooked and have many health benefits.
🟡 Yellow Peppers are one of the richest dietary sources of Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant, as I hope you know by now! Antioxidants protect the body from free radical damage and inflammation.
🟡 Yellow Peppers also contain Vitamin B6 important for forming red blood cells. Also, Vitamin K, needed for blood clotting and bone health.
🟡 Yellow Peppers contain potassium an essential mineral known to be beneficial for heart health.
🟡 Yellow Peppers also supply the body with Folate and Vitamin E a powerful antioxidant essential for healthy nerves and muscles.
🟡 Yellow Peppers are low in calories - a 100-gram serving is only 26 calories.
As we are coming to the end of this series, I hope you have enjoyed learning about the benefits of eating a variety of healthy foods and I hope I have encouraged you to at least try some different foods. If you are searching for optimum health, it is important to provide your body with all the vitamins and minerals it needs, and this is why a varied diet is essential.
We are all unique and what suits one person can be bad for another so become a conscious eater and notice how your body reacts to different foods. We can often get stuck eating the same foods week after week. Remember variety is the spice of life!
Live with joy and health 💚
